The Morning Habits That Changed My Energy
For years, I thought having more energy meant drinking more coffee or simply pushing through the day.
What I've learned is that energy isn't something you chase—it's something you create through the small choices you make every morning.
As a former health club owner, personal trainer, and dance instructor, I've watched people transform their health by making simple, consistent habits part of their daily routine. The same has been true in my own life.
Here are a few morning habits that have made the biggest difference for me.
1. Start with Water
Before I reach for my coffee, I drink a large glass of water.
After sleeping for seven or eight hours, your body naturally wakes up dehydrated. Rehydrating first thing in the morning is one of the easiest ways to support your body before the day begins.
It's a simple habit that takes less than a minute.
2. Eat a Protein-Rich Breakfast
One of the biggest changes I made was increasing the amount of protein I eat in the morning.
Instead of relying on toast or cereal alone, I aim to include a quality source of protein with breakfast. It helps me stay satisfied longer and provides more consistent energy throughout the morning.
A good breakfast doesn't have to be complicated—it just needs to nourish your body.
3. Move Your Body
You don't need an hour-long workout every morning.
Sometimes it's a walk around the block.
Sometimes it's stretching.
Sometimes it's a quick strength workout.
The goal is simply to get your body moving. Even 10 or 15 minutes can help wake you up and prepare you for the day ahead.
4. Get Outside
Morning sunlight helps support your body's natural internal clock.
Whenever possible, I like to step outside for a few minutes while enjoying my coffee or taking a short walk. Fresh air and natural light are simple things that can make a surprising difference in how you feel.
5. Protect Your Mind
How you begin your day often influences the rest of it.
Instead of immediately checking emails or scrolling through social media, try giving yourself a few quiet minutes first.
Read something encouraging.
Pray.
Practice gratitude.
Simply enjoy a peaceful start before the demands of the day begin.
6. Upgrade Your Coffee
I still enjoy my morning coffee.
I wasn't looking to give it up—I was looking to make it better.
After researching different options, I found a functional mushroom coffee that fit my wellness goals. It allows me to enjoy the rich taste of premium coffee while incorporating ingredients traditionally used to support focus, energy, and overall wellness.
For me, it's become one more healthy habit that's easy to maintain.
Small Habits Add Up
None of these habits are life-changing on their own.
But together, they've helped me feel more energized, focused, and prepared for the day.
You don't have to change everything overnight.
Start with one habit this week.
Once it becomes part of your routine, add another.
That's how lasting health is built—one simple choice at a time.
