Why I Became More Selective About the Supplements I Recommend
Walk into almost any grocery store, pharmacy, or health food store and you'll find shelves lined with vitamins, minerals, protein powders, probiotics, collagen, greens, herbs, and countless other supplements. There are literally thousands of products to choose from, and almost every label promises to help you feel better.
So how do you know which ones are actually worth taking?
It's a question I've been asked many times over the years.
When I owned a health club and work as a personal trainer, people often wanted to know which supplements I recommended. At the time, there were certainly products I liked, but I also knew that no supplement could replace the fundamentals of good health. Regular exercise, nutritious food, quality sleep, stress management, and healthy habits would always be the foundation.
I still believe that today.
What has changed is how carefully I evaluate the supplements I choose to use myself and recommend to others.
Not All Supplements Are Created Equal
Many people assume that if two bottles say "Vitamin C" or "Collagen," they're essentially the same product.
In reality, there can be significant differences in ingredient quality, sourcing, manufacturing standards, purity, dosage, and transparency.
Some products contain meaningful amounts of active ingredients. Others include only small amounts that may do little to support the body. Some use fillers, artificial ingredients, or proprietary blends that make it difficult to know exactly what you're getting.
Reading a label tells part of the story. Understanding what's behind that label tells the rest.
More Isn't Always Better
One of the biggest misconceptions in the supplement industry is that taking more products automatically leads to better results.
I've met people who take ten or fifteen different supplements every day without really knowing why.
Supplements should support your overall wellness plan, not become a substitute for healthy living or a guessing game.
That's why I encourage people to start with the basics and add nutritional support thoughtfully, based on their individual needs.
I Started Asking Better Questions
As I began researching wellness companies more seriously, I found myself looking beyond marketing claims.
I wanted answers to questions like:
Where are the ingredients sourced?
How are the products manufactured?
What quality standards are followed?
Is the company transparent about what's in its products?
Does the product provide meaningful amounts of key ingredients?
Does the company prioritize education or simply sales?
Those questions helped narrow the field considerably.
Wellness Is Personal
One lesson I've learned over the years is that no two people are exactly alike.
The nutritional support that may benefit one person isn't necessarily what someone else needs.
That's one reason I've become interested in a more personalized approach to wellness. Instead of recommending the same handful of products to everyone, I believe it's better to understand an individual's goals, lifestyle, and areas where their body may benefit from additional support.
It's a much more thoughtful way to approach health.
Why I Chose Vital Health Global
After months of research, I chose to partner with Vital Health Global because their philosophy aligns with the way I've always believed wellness should be approached.
Their focus isn't on selling the latest trend or offering a one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, they emphasize high-quality ingredients, targeted nutritional support, and helping people make informed decisions based on their individual needs.
That approach felt authentic to me because it reflects something I've believed throughout my career: real health is built over time through consistent habits and thoughtful choices.
My Advice
If there's one thing I'd encourage you to do, it's this:
Don't buy supplements simply because they're popular or heavily advertised.
Take the time to understand what you're taking and why.
Look for companies that value quality, transparency, and education. Ask questions. Read labels. Be willing to invest in products you can trust rather than filling your cabinet with bottles you hope might help.
Your health deserves that level of care.
Looking Ahead
In future articles, I'll be sharing more about topics like gut health, inflammation, healthy aging, recovery, and some of the products I've personally chosen to include in my own wellness routine. My goal isn't to convince you to buy more supplements. It's to help you make better-informed decisions about your health, one step at a time.
